Cenotes

Este es el Cenote Zací, estaba a 3 cuadras de nuestro hotel !!! en Valladolid, en un pequeño parque, despúes de pagar la entrada bajas escaleras como a una caverna y de repente aparece esta hermosa vista! This is the Cenote Zací, it was just three blocks from our hotel!!! in Valladolid, on a little park ,after paying the entrance you get down some stairs to a kind of cavern and suddenly appears this beautiful view!
No nadamos aqui por que era muy temprano, creo que las 8:30 A.M. asi que sólo estuvimos media hora y nos fuimos a desayunar. We didn´t swim here because it was too early, I think it was 8:30 A.M. so, we just stay there half hour, then we went for breakfast.
Terminando el desayuno, fuimos por el coche y nos dirigimos rumbo a Chichen Itza al Cenote Dzitnup, aqui nadamos bastante rato. When we finished the breakfast, we went to take the car and drived to Chichen Itzá to the Dzitnup Cenote, here we swam for long.

Despues fuimos por nuestras cosas al hotel y nos dirigimos hacia las ruinas de Ek Balam After that we returned to the hotel and then we went to visit the ruins of Ek Balam
En Ek Balam aún existen figuras hechas de estuco muy bien conservadas, este sitio arqueologico fué recientemente habierto al publico. Nosotros llegamos a la conclusión de que son las mejores ruinas que visitamos, desde la gran piramide se puede ver Chichen Itzá. At Ek Balam still are figures of stucco very well kept, this place was recently open to the visitors. We got to the conclusion that those are the best ruins we have visited. From the big pyramid you can see Chichen Itzá.


Yo solo pude subir hasta la mitad de la piramide, las ruinas al fondo siguen siendo Ek Balam, no piensen que es Chichen Itzá, solo quería mostrar la altura de la piramide y la vista. I just could up till the half of the pyramid, the ruins on the back are still Ek Balam, don´t think it´s Chichen Itzá, I just wanted show you the high of the pyramid and the view.


Despues de las ruinas , supimos que había un cenote a 1.5 km. a pie por una brecha entre la selva, había bicicletas para rentar pero se nos hizo aventurero caminar... Uuuffff! No saben lo que es el calor y el sol con esa distancia!

After the ruins we knew, there were a Cenote just 1.5 km. foot walking in a little breach among the jungle, there were bycicles to rent but we thought it will be more adventurous to walk... Uuuufff! You don´t know what was the hot and the sun with this distance!

Afortunadamente tuvimos la recompensa de poder nadar en este enorme Cenote !! Estuvimos aqui como 1 hora, después a caminar de regreso. Pero un lindo chico indigena decidió caminar con nosotros de regreso, y platicando y narrandonos su vida se nos hizo el camino casi nada. Fortunaly we had the reward to swim in that big Cenote!! We were there 1 hour, after that, we walked back again. But one very nice domestic boy joined us, and talking about his life we forgot the distance. Para terminar ese día nos fuimos rumbo a Merida y decidimos pasar la noche en un bellisimo pueblito llamado Izámal, en el que hay muchas piramides dentro del pueblo y este imponente convento que fué construído con las piedras de lo que parece fué una grandisima piramide. Aqui todas las construcciones del pueblo estan pintadas del mismo color amarillo, se ve muy hermoso. To finish that day, we drive to Merida and decided to pass the night in a beautiful little town called Izámal in wich we saw some pyramids into the town, and this imposing convent was bilt with the stones of a very big pyramid. Here all the buildings of the town are painted with the same yellow color, it looks very nice.

No puedo contar todo lo que quisiera por que sé que no puedo transmitirles todos mis sentimientos al estar en lugares tan hermosos y llenos de anecdotas, creo que dejaré aqui este viaje tan maravillosa y lleno de vivencias, solo les diré que al día siguiente por la mañana nos fuimos de aqui a otro lugar magico... I can not say all I wanted because I can not transmit you all my feelings to be in such a beautiful places full of stories, I believe I am going to stop here this marvelous trip full of experiences, I just tell that next morning day we went to another magical place...

La ruta Puuc - The Puuc route

Continuando nuestro viaje, después de Campeche regresamos hacia Uxmal, para continuar con la ruta Puuc. Iniciamos el recorrido por las magnificas ruinas de Kabah. Continuing with our trip, after Campeche we came back to Uxmal to start the Puuc route. We started for the magnificent ruins of Kabah.

Este es un detalle de una piramide de Kabah, 28 km. después de Uxmal. No hay palabras para describir la grandeza de la civilizacion Maya. Cuando terminamos de visitar Kabah, nos dimos cuenta de que era urgente poner gasolina, asi que preguntamos por la más cercana a los lugareños y nos mandarón a una que decían quedaba a menos de un kilometro de distancia; seguimos las indicaciones y despues de casi 10 km. buscando, decidimos regresar y buscar otra vez... casualmente la encontramos y bueno, vean ustedes por que fué tan dificil dar con ella. Ja, ja ja, imaginaba una gasolinera "normal " de la ciudad. This detail belongs to a pyramid of Kabah. There is not words to descrive the greatness of Mayan civilization. When we finished to visit the ruins, we realized it was very urgent to put gasoline, we asked locals for the nearest gas station and they sent us to one around 1 km. so we followed their directions, but after 10 km. driving we decided to get back and try again... we found it by chance, well ,see why it was very difficult to find it. Ha,ha ,ha I imagine it was a "normal" gas station like in the city.

Pedimos 10 litros y mientras el señor ponía la gasolina con un embudo al coche, nos contaba acerca de su vida, diciendo que el estuvo en San Francisco trabajando y que ya había estado 3 veces por alla, le había ido bien e hizo dinero suficiente (mientras el sol a todo esplendor y la temperatura de casi 38°C!!! ) que su esposa era una buena administradora y buena mujer ( yo veía a Alfredo sudando y sonriendo, mientras imaginaba sus zapatos derritiendose en el asfalto!)

y que había puesto la gasolinera para entretenerse por que adora Yucatan y no le gusta E.U. ( yo me seguía derritiendo!!) le sonreímos y amablemente interrumpimos para decirle que era afortunado y que teníamos que seguir nuestro camino, (él había empezado a contarnos de sus hijos) nos estrechamos las manos calurosamente y muy contentos Alfredo y yo arrancamos el coche muertos de risa y prendimos el aire acondicionado. We asked for 10 litres, and at the same time the man funnel it, he started telling us about his life, he had been in San Francisco 3 times working, he had earned good money... (the sun was very hot and the temperature was almost 38°C!!!) and his wife administrated very well the money and she was a very nice woman ...(I watched Alfredo, he was sweating and smiling as long I imagined his shoes melted on the pavement!!!) he put the gas store just to not bored and because he wanted to stay in Yucatán the land he loves ...(I was melting too!!) we smiled him and kindly interrupted to say we have to continue our way...(he had started to tell us about his sons) we shake hands warmly and very happies Alfredo and I speed up the car laughing a lot and turned on the air conditioning.

Continuamos nuestra ruta hasta Sayil, 10 kilometras después de Kabah, son unas ruinas bastante extensas y se dividen en 2 partes junto a la carretera. Esta foto es al inicio del recorrido. We continue our route till Sayil, 10 km. after Kabah ,they are a very extended ruins and are divided by the road in two parts. This picture is the begining of it.
Esta foto la tomé del otro lado de la carretera y se cree que aqui era la puerta de entrada a la ciudad de Sayil. I took this picture on the other side of the road and they believed here was the entrance door to the city of Sayil.
Este es el palacio de Sayil, su arquitectura recuerda un poco a las construcciones griegas. Después de aqui fuimos a Xlapak. This is the palace of Sayil, his architecture remembers a little to the Greek constructions. After here we went to Xlapak.


Este edificio es una de las joyas del estilo Puuc, en el centro y las esquinas se pueden apreciar mascarones del dios Chaac(Dios del agua). This building is one of the jewels of the Puuc style, on the center and corners we can observe big masks of God Chaac.(water God).

A continuación nos trasladamos a las últimas ruinas de la ruta, Labná Then we went to the last ruins of the route, Labná.

Aqui estoy en el arco, el cual es una talla hecha en piedra. En este sitio se puede apreciar un largo camino aun en pie llamado Sacbé.Estos eran comunes para comunicarse entre poblaciones. Here I am under the arch wich was carved on stone.In this place we can still observe a long road called Sacbé. Those roads were used to comunicate between populations.Para finalizar la Ruta Puuc, decidimos visitar las grutas de Lol-Tún, las más grandes de Yucatán. To finish the Puuc route, we decided to visit the caves of Lol-Tún , the biggest of Yucatán.

Después de tan interesantes lugares y naturaleza, tomamos la carretera para dirigirnos a Valladolid, nos hospedamos en un hotel colonial muy lindo, cenamos comida típica yucateca y decidimos que el siguiente día sería el dia de los Cenotes. After so interesting places and nature, we took the road to Valladolid, we lodged at a very nice hotel, and had a tipical yucatan dinner as long we decided next day will be the Cenote´s day.

Vacaciones en Yucatan - Holidays at Yucatan

Despues de unas maravillosas vacaciones por el mundo maya, finalmente encuentro el tiempo para actualizar mi blog y todas esas cosas que estaban pendientes.
Siento tanto el no poder decir todo lo que quisiera, pero a veces lo dejo por uno o dos dias y las cosas cambian y ya no es lo mismo, o quizás pasan cosas nuevas que suplen a las anteriores y todo se ve diferente. Por eso es tan importante EL AQUI Y AHORA. Bueno trataré de hacer una breve reseña de las cosas tan bellas que visité en Yucatan.

After a very nice holidays for the mayan world, finally I found the time to catch up my blog and all those things I left undone.

I am sorry I can not say all I wanted here, but sometimes I wait for one or two days then everything change and nothing is the same or maybe new things happen and the old ones are not as important as the day before and all looks different. Tha´s why HERE AND NOW is so important.

Well I´ll do my best to tell in a shot time my experiences in Yucatan.

Bueno el viaje comienza en Celestún, Merida. Celestún es una reserva de la biosfera y area protegida, donde hay manglares, y exotica vegetación, habitan flamencos, pelicanos,cocodrilos, cientos de aves y muchas especies de animales más. Llegamos a un hotel llamado Eco Paraiso, el cual realmente es ecologico, asi que no hay t.v. ni nada que estropee el contacto con la naturaleza. The trip begining at Celestún, Merida. Celestún is a protected reserve of the biosphere, where there are mangrove swamp and exotic vegetation, there live flamingos, pelicans, crocodile, hundreds of birds and so much species. We arrived at Eco Paraiso hotel , which was really ecological, not t.v. and nothing that spoiled the real contact with nature.

Despues de nuestra visita a los flamingos, nos llevaron a un ojo de agua o Cenote a refrescarnos en el agua, fue algo verdaderamente especial!! After visiting the flamingos they took us to a natural well or Cenote to refresh ourselves in the water, it was something really amazing!!

Despues de dos días en Celestun, regresamos a Merida sólo para rentar un coche y despues poder visitar las ruinas de Uxmal. Por la noche regresamos al espectaculo de luz y sonido dentro de las ruinas. Es algo tan inesperado! Imaginen estar dentro de las ruinas sin luces, con el cielo lleno de estrellas y los sonidos de la selva, despues la luz artificial de colores iluminando las piramides y el sonido de narraciones mayas, mientras se hecha a volar la imaginacion de como pudo haber sido todo cuando los mayas aún habitaban allí. After two days at Celestun we got back to Merida just to rent a car and to visiting the ruins of Uxmal. At night we came back to the show of light and sound inside the ruins. It was something unexpected! Imagine to be inside of the ruins without any light and the sky full of stars and the sounds of the jungle, afterwards artifitial color lights illuminated the pyramids and the sound of mayan narrations , meanwhile your imagination flies thinking how it could had been when the Mayas still lived there.

Después de estar en Uxmal, aprovechamos la noche y nos fuimos a Campeche donde pasamos la noche. After Uxmal we took advantage of the night and went to Campeche where we spent the night.
A la mañana siguiente, visitamos la ciudad colonial de Campeche, bastante calurosa por cierto !!!

Esta rodeada por una muralla, pues en el pasado era atacada por piratas asi que ahora se ve muy pequeña, pero imagino que alguna vez fué una "gran ciudad".

The next morning we visited the City of Campeche, quite hot by the way!!!

It is surround for a city wall, because in the past was attack for pirates so now it looks very small, but I imagine once it was "a big city".

Despues de recorrer el centro y el museo, donde por cierto hay piezas arqueologicas muy interesantes, nos fuimos a tomar un cafe a la plaza , pero el calor era bastante fuerte asi que decidimos tomar un chapuzon en la alberca del hotel para despues irnos hacia merida otra vez. De camino a la orilla del mar nos detuvimos a comer en un restaurancito y miren lo que pedí, me senti tan afortunada de vivir todo esto!! After walking in downtown and the museum ,where there are a very interesting archeological pieces by the way, we went for a cup of coffe at the center, but the hot weather was quit strong so we decide to go for a swim at the hotel and then we go to Merida again. In our way by the seashore we stopped for lunch in a little restaurant and see what was my meal, I felt very fortunate to live all this!!!
HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! Bueno ahora les mostraré lo que hice ayer domingo que estaba muy inspirada, a una playera vieja que tenía un letrero que no nos gustaba le puse este diseño, me divertí mucho haciendolo y Alfredo recuperó su playera! Well, now I will show you what I did yesterday sunday, I was inspired and with an old t-shirt that had an ugly ad. I didn´t like I sewed this desing on it, I have a lot of fun and Alfredo get back his t-shirt again.

Tambien tuve tiempo de hacer esta bolsa para llevar las cosas de Marion a la universidad, y lo mejor ... esta hecha con basura!!!! Besides I had time to made this bag for Marion´s stuff of the university and the best.... it was made with just leftovers!!! Voy a continuar esta narración la siguiente vez, creo que tienen mucho por ahora. I am going to continue next time with this, you have enough for now.
