El quilt de Wendy - Wendy´s quilt

Como les dije en mi ultima publicación, aquí comparto la historia del quilt de Wendy. 

Una amiga y yo decidimos que sería buena idea hacerle un quilt para apoyarla en este proceso con nuestra energía. Me pareció una idea genial, así que le hice un diseño alegre y lo que se me hizo importante, hacer una conexión con la naturaleza y la energía femenina. Cada una de mis alumnas y amigas aportó algo y bueno estas son las fotos con el resultado.
Mi querida Wendy ahora tiene en sus manos algo hecho especialmente para ella con nuestros mejores pensamientos  para que pueda vencer esta enfermedad. Y lo mejor, ya casi esta restablecida!

As I told you last post, here is Wendy´s quilt story. She was diagnosed with cancer last year. That´s the kind of bad news that changes everything in life. That gave me a lot of things to think about, specially I thought about what is worth it and what just steals us time, energy and value as a human being.
A friend of mine and I decided, it would be a good idea to make a supportive quilt to her. I thought it was a good idea and I made a joyful design connected with nature and the feminine energy. Each one of my students and two friends made something, so these are the pictures of her with it.
My dear Wendy has now a quilt made to support her in this trance. And the best is that she´s almost cured!!

Begining 2014- Comenzando 2014

Inicio el año 2014 actualizando este blog al que he tenido abandonado pero siempre presente por continuar...
 Hoy recibí la noticia de que mi querida amiga, la esposa de mi cuñado partió.  Después de años de lucha perdió la batalla contra su enfermedad. Sólo pido a mis amigas que ofrezcan un minuto de buena energía para ella donde quiera que este.
2014 I start updating this blog I had very neglected but I always wanted to continue...
Today I got bad news about my dear friend, the wife of my brother in law died. After years of fighting with her illness she now is resting in peace. I want to ask to my friends one minute of good energy to her wherever she is now.

Guatemala 3 Last part

Despues de estar junto al lago de Atitlán, decidimos adentrernos un poco mas en Guatemala y viajamos hacia la zona del volcan de Zunil. Alli convergen 7 volcanes y existe un lugar maravilloso llamado "Las fuentes Georginas".
After being in Atitlan Lake, we decided to move further into Guatemala, so we traveled to the Zunil volcano area. There converge 7 volcanoes and a wonderful place called "Las fuentes Georginas".

Estando alli, nos dimos cuenta de la belleza del lugar y del beneficio de sus aguas, asi que rentamos una cabaña y decidimos quedarnos a pasar la noche. Hacía mucho frío, pero gracias a la gran habilidad de mi marido, despues de una hora pudimos prender la chimenea y disfrutar de una tina privada en la cabaña.
Las tinas se llenan con agua que viene de la salida del volcan, estaba tan caliente que pudimos estar casi 2 horas dentro del agua en nuestra propia cabaña.
When we got there, we realized the beauty of the place and the medicine of its water, so we rented a cabin to stay one night. It was so cold during night, but thanks my husband skills, after one hour we can make fire with green wood and could enjoy our private little pool inside the cabin. The water was the same hot volcano pool water, so we could enjoy two hours in our little pool.

Al dia siguiente, disfrutamos de un hermoso dia a las faldas del volcan, nadamos y comimos delicioso, despues con un dejo de nostalgia tuvimos que decir adios a este hermoso lugar.
Next day we enjoy of a beautiful day at the slope of the volcano, we swam and then eat delicious typical food, afterwards with a little nostalgia we said good bay to this wonderful place.

Nuestro viaje continuó hacia la pequeña ciudad de Xela o Quetzaltenango, como le bautizarón los conquistadores y los aztecas que les ayudaron a dominar el territorio. Despues regreso a la ciudad de Guatemala.

Our trip continue to the little city of Xela or Quetzaltenango, as the Aztecs and Spaniard conquers called the place. Then we went back to the big city of Guatemala.

 

Allí pasamos una noche para recorrer el centro y conocer un poco, afortunadamente para mi, supimos que había un museo del traje indigena llamado, Museo Ixchel, asi que no pude dejar pasar la oportunidad de visitarlo. Es un museo bellisimo, esta dentro de la universidad Francisco Marroquín. Fue muy interesante y enriquecedor, ya se imaginaran que compré varios libros maravillosos!! Del museo al aeropuerto. Que hermosas y ricas vacaciones, espero repetir la experiencia!

We stayed one night to make some sightseeing in downtown, fortunatelly for me, we overheard that there is a museum of mayan textiles called, Museo Ixchel, so I could not resist to visit it. It is a wonderful museum and it is part of the Francisco Marroquín private college. It was very interesting and enriched, you could imagine how many interesting books I got there!! Afterwards the museum the airport back home.

What a wonderful and rich holidays, I want to repeat the experience again!!

Guatemala 2

Despues de Antigua Guatemala, viajamos casi tres horas hacia el lago de Atitlán, arribamos por el pueblo de Panajachel. Como llegamos ya tarde, nos dió tiempo de hospedarnos e ir a caminar por la pintoresca calle Santander, decidimos tomarnos unas cervezas en el bar Pana Rock y comer unas deliciosas pupusas de el Salvador, rellenas de queso, mmmmm! Deliciosas.

After Antigua Guatemala, we traveled almost three hours to Atitlán Lake, we got there by Panajachel. Like we arrived afternnon late, we just lodge and went for a walk in the Santander street to have some beers at the Pana Rock bar and eating some delicious cheese pupusas from El Salvador, mmmm!

 

Al dia siguiente, como era domingo, teniamos la gran oportunidad de visitar Chichicastenango, un pueblito magico, donde convergen diversos grupos etnicos para vender sus productos.
El mercado estaba lleno de gente, colores, mujeres y pudimos ver el sincretismo religioso de los ritos Mayas y el catolicismo. Aqui, las iglesias estan casi vacías de imagenes y los indigenas queman Copal fuera de la iglesia como ofrenda, despues queman velas de colores en tablas especiales dentro y ofrecen flores. Las escaleras de la entrada estan llenas de mujeres que venden flores con sus coloridos trajes. Me gustó mucho este pueblito, aqui compré algunos textiles y un telar de cintura. Siii voy a tejer en él uno de estos dias!

Next day it was Sunday and we got the opportunity to visit Chichicastenango in a market day, where diverse ethnic groups converge to sale their products.
The market was full of people and colors and we could see the  religious syncretism. Here the churches have few images and the indigenous people burn Copal outside the church like offering, then they light colorful candles in special wood squares inside and leave flowers in the altar. Outside the steps of the church are cover with flower sellers. I loved this little town. I got some textiles and a backstrap loom. Yes, I am going to weave on it one of these days!.

Despues de un dia de mercado, decidimos regresar a Panajachel y explorar la zona del lago de Atitlán. Arribamos al hotel San Buenaventura que se encuentra en una reserva ecologica cafetalera junto al lago, altamente recomendable!

After a market day, we decided to return to Panajachel and explore the lake Atitlán. We arrived to the hotel San Buenaventura, it is in a coffee ecological reserve next to the lake, hardly recommended!

Desde el hotel tomamos una lancha que nos condujo por tres de los pueblitos mas turisticos del lago, San Juan de la laguna, San Pedro de la laguna y Santiago Atitlán. De los tres para mi por supuesto fué el pueblo de San Juan donde pude apreciar como tejen, aprender más del teñido natural y de la herbolaria ancestral.

From the hotel we took a little boat to visit three famous little towns around the lake: San Juan de la laguna, San Pedro de la laguna and Santiago Atitlán. For me the more interesting of course, was San Juan de la Laguna because there I could learn about natural dying and herbal knowledge.

 Feliz con mis trofeos! Hilo de algodón Ixcaco y una manta o Tzute para cubrirme hecho del mismo material. Reflexionando un poco, les puedo decir que recibí tanta energia positiva y conocimiento de estas mujeres que solo pude optar al regreso en lancha rumbo al hotel, a estar en completo silencio y contemplar la belleza del paisaje.

Happy with my purchases! Cotton thread Ixcaco and one blanket made with the same material. 
Making a reflexion I can say that I received so much energy from the woman in that places that I just could   kept quiet and in silence to the rest of the way back to the hotel meanwhile I was seeing the beauty of the landscape.

Viaje a Guatemala 1- Trip to Guatemala 1

Antigua Guatemala:

Mi esposo y yo cumplimos 25 años de estar juntos y decidimos celebrarlo con un viaje a un lugar lleno de cultura y energía. Decidimos ir a Guatemala.
 Con el cambio del calendario Maya se dió inicio a la nueva Era, llamada 13 Baktum, pensamos que sería muy interesante cargar las baterias en un lugar lleno de espiritualidad  y sincretismo.
En Guatemala como en el sur de Mexico, habitan los descendientes de la gran civilización Maya, una gran cultura llena de diversas etnias con dialectos diferentes y trajes distintivos; con conocimiento de la sabiduría ancestral de la naturaleza y los elementos. De textiles con tejidos intrincados y  mucho color, bellas mujeres mayas y amables personas. Guatemala se robó mi corazón!

My husband and I decided to make a trip to Guatemala  and celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, because it´s a place full of energy and culture.
With the change of the Mayan Era called 13 Baktum, we thought it will be very interesting to visit this place  and to charge energies there.
In Guatemala like in the south of Mexico, live the descendants of the Maya culture, it´s a great culture full of different ethnic groups and dialects, different customs and the ancient knowledge and wisdom of their ancestors of nature and it´s spirits. Land of colorful textiles and intricate weaving work, beautiful Mayan woman and very kind people. Guatemala stole  my hearth!

Todas estas fotos fueron tomadas en Antigua Guatemala. Fue la primera capital, pero despues de su destruccion con los terremotos fue abandonada y se fundó la nueva capital en lo que ahora es la Ciudad de Guatemala.
All these pictures were taken in the old city of Antigua Guatemala. It was the first capital, but because of the earthquakes it was left and the new one was founded in the actual City of Guatemala.

Comenzando feliz! Happy Starting!

2013 ha comenzado lleno de actividades para mi, primero un viaje con mi hija menor  a Cuba y despues el baile de graduación de mi hija, cambios en mi estudio inicio de patchwork clases y la meta de terminar muchos proyectos que había postergado por diversas razones. ahora estoy liberandome poco a poco de ellos y no saben que bien se siente!!
Este año, por primera vez en mi vida no he hecho propositos de año nuevo! Quiero fluir con la vida y tomar las cosas de una manera más relajada, por lo pronto ya retomé mis ejercicios de yoga y me siento muy bien por eso.

2013 has started full of activities to me, first I went to Cuba with my younger daughter, then my other daughter´s graduation party, I am doing changes in my studio, I started the patchwork classes and the big goal of finishing lots of  procrastinate projects and now I am letting go little by little of them and it feels so good!!
For the first time this year I did not make any new year purposes! I want to flow with life and take things in a more relaxed manner, for now I took back my yoga exercises and I feel so good for it.

 Terminé los vestidos de todas para la graduación y por qué no?También le hice la bolsa a juego con los zapatos!
I finished the dresses for all to the graduation and why not? Also the bag to match with the shoes!
